Paul A. Burch has been pounding the skins since the age of 15. Initially joining the school band with an interest in learning the saxophone, Paul was forced to choose between the clarinet or the percussion section. Too many sax players was actually a blessing in disguise!
Drums and percussion turned out to be Paul's calling, as he continued with his high school marching band in New Mexico and playing in his bedroom with his first drum kit: a 5 piece CB700 series (most commonly known as the P.O.S. model). It was good enough to learn how to play along with his favorites albums.
After high school graduation, Paul had a stint in the radio business and relocated to Phoenix in 1990. His journey w/ The Furnace began in 1997 after answering a "drummer wanted" ad in the local paper. Paul was hesitant to commit originally as Kevin's garage (then Furnace headquarters) was quite the drive from Paul's Scottsdale Condo. The combination of original tunage and Kevin's powerful vocals inspired Paul to make the drive three nights a week.
After seven years of rocking in the The Furnace, Paul left the band in January of 2004 other interests.
Paul's favorite songs include: (in no particular order)
Illusion
Wound
Killer Inside
Bury My Bones
Wander
Comfort
Lost
Four Wall World
Turning Hands
In Late 2007, Paul Burch and Kevin Flowers discussed the idea via email and phone on a potential reunion, which brings us to the present date.

In the 3 years away from The Furnace, Paul pursued his other interest in video production, (many The Furnace music videos) and also founded a acoustic trio called Bottle of Sun in March of 2006. That project can be found at www.bottleofsun.net
